***TEACHER RANT***

OMFG guys have I told you about my bitch thesis preproduction teacher? I swear I get pissed off even more at him every week that goes by.

So I've said many times already about how I'm no modeler and I'm an animator right? Well I do this in school where it's necessary because it's important, I just want people to know that I can't do jack-shit modeling even if my life depended on it. Maria knows this (she's the one that was stressing over the hw in my last journal) and so she wants to help me and another girl out with our characters (and gain more practice because SHE wants to be the modeler). So she asks Jeffrey (our teacher) if she could model for us and gain credit for it since you know...she'll be working on ours as well as her own. Well....he basically tells her no and that COLLABORATION ON PROJECTS IS SO SO BAD because you can't fire your friend if they don't deliver their share. Haha and yet everyone in this DEPARTMENT, Vic, David, Ali, John Mac our chairperson, everyone has been encouraging us to collaborate because it makes the projects loads better! (not to mention that you get more varied material to put on your reel/resume)

And FURTHERMORE....after Maria told him that I'm an animator and I can't model well, he looks me right in the eye, and with this condescending tone of voice, basically tells me "OH well you can watch a tutorial and you'll catch onto modeling real easy."

UHM EXCUSE ME???? Did you even LISTEN!? Who the fuck do you think you are telling me that I should just catch on to modeling? Don't you think that if I could I would've "caught on" this past YEAR AND A HALF? You wouldn't automatically assume a painter, just because they're a visual artist, will be awesome at sculpting (ahem on the computer)?

And why are we even focusing on MODELING MODELING OMG to begin with...the other class is focusing on their pre-vis, which is the 2d storyboard turned into 3D to make sure that everything actually works in virtual space so you don't waste your efforts on building things for a failed scene...no wonder why his students from the first semester were/are so far behind and still working on STORYBOARDS (OMFG 2 hours discussing/overanalyzing a perfectly fine story...I want to pull my hair out every time!).

Apparently people like me are rare in the department...people who LOVE ANIMATING and DESPISE MODELING (everyone seems to want to model for a living here, I feel very.....different and WTFish....every graduate's thesis has always been a short animation film....why are you here). Maybe this is why he's being an ASShole and ASSuming that I'm just like everyone else.

I'm so special.

I say screw him and find a way to pay Maria for her time :3 Whether you help her with 3d in another class if she needs it, or help her texture or render, or take her to lunch, lol. We always collabed in my classes and I would do character front and side views for my friend Bill if he would rig for me. It works out so much better that way, no need to suffer over something you can't do. T.T

Oh rigging is a bitch too XD We've already decided a while ago that we were gonna trade jobs...she was gonna model for me and I can help with animation stuff and possibly some lighting work. Why shouldn't we do things we're good at? The projects come out better and you don't end up stressing so much.

So you're a computer art major too? =3

Yup, hehe ^__^ I have an associates degree in digital animation, and I decided I liked texturing ad character design more than anything else, so I am a computer art major but I'm focusing on drawing and painting. I think I want to color comic books digitally or be an illustrator instead of a 3d artist, but I still love watching others work :3

Hey well as long as you love what you do, and you have several abilities so in case one thing doesn't work out for you at the time you can fall back on something else. That was the best advice I got at my college open house, and it wasn't from the boring powerpoint presentation dudes either XD

And....my teacher is bipolar or something. First, he treats me like this is my first time modeling ("So...how did you feel when modeling? Get the hang of it?") and then when I show him my shitty model (I purposely didn't try and left it super blocky XD) he goes "Well...maybe you can get someone who's good at modeling to help you out. Didn't you say you liked animating? Maybe you can trade abilities."
Like hello didn't I say that last week? -_-

He also insinuates that I can't animate and that my classmates from the fall semester didn't do any work or had it easy (we had a different teacher, and we got our package done on time...his students did everything the last week). Pft.

Man I can never get a break from this guy....now I'm pissed at him because he took my story for my thesis this week (which I was fine with and didn't ask for any help but I had no choice) and basically ripped it apart....gave it lame gags (instead of looney tunesy like I had), ruined my characters personalities...and made it sentimental with a flower or something at the end, which was NOT the intention at all. And he wants to see a redone storyboard for next week from me. NO I'm putting my foot down on this one, and Maria and I are going to see our chairperson tomorrow to complain about him. Talk about a nice valentine gift XD
