Sleeper is a great song, I'll have to watch the pv then And I HATE when I can only find music ripped in really shitty quality and nothing else. Sadly...since my sound design class my ears have become a lot more sensitive and now I can hear a lot of that digital artifacting in what was once-acceptable music for me. D=

Animation is fun! And there's nothing wrong with lenient teachers, my thesis research teacher last semester was awesome. He was all like "Guys I'm not going to force you to storyboard on 5x8 cards. If you want to do it in your sketchbook or napkins that's cool with me, whatever works for you." And he was also like "Put in 10 hours of work each week. Even if that means 9 hours of conceptualizing and 1 hour of putting it down." AND better yet we're most ahead out of all the other students. My god....people are still working on fixing their stories and we've been done with that for months! (I don't think I'm gonna get anything done with this instructor, he just keeps rehashing things we've done already)

I guess I was expecting much harsher from my animation teacher because he's been going on and on each week about how good animation and story are what make theses great. Not global illumination, or mental ray, or amazing hair/clothing or stretchy skeletons like most people seem to want to do. Because in the end if your animation is shitty then your whole project looks like shit.

I've been thinking this all along. My thesis isn't going to look cutting-edge technology amazing. It's going to be very simple. But I'm going to make sure my animation looks fucking awesome because that's what I want to do XD

(And some people were talking in the classroom I was working in...apparently good animators are in short supply and high demand because good animation adds life to boring characters. Not modelers. So many people are good at modeling. If you're good at it people really want you, at least I'm hoping )

I wish animation had been a plausible, if not even POSSIBLE, avenue for me as a college subject, but it kept blanking me like a freaking portable Berlin Wall of doom. Nothing wrong with a Bachelor of Arts, though, and I can always change once I've got both feet on the ground type thing.

Yeah there you go, think positive When I went to an open house at my college 2 years before I graduated, I remember taking a tour and visiting Voltaire's stop-motion class (yeah the Voltaire that does that music). He was really awesome and had the most helpful advice regarding art careers and just life in general. Much more so than the loser suits in the auditorium xD From then on I wanted to take one of his classes, but alas, there's no room and there will be no room in my schedule I can take his continuing ed class later on though
